Does the animation speed stay the same?
Yes. Each frame keeps its own display time from the WebP. GIF stores timing in hundredths of a second, so very short frames are rounded to at least 20 ms, which is also the fastest most browsers play a GIF.

Turn animated or still WebP files into GIFs. Free, no sign-up, and your image never leaves your device.
Converting WebP to GIF re-encodes an image from Google’s modern WebP format into GIF, the 1987 format that every app, forum and email client still plays. This converter reads each frame of an animated WebP together with its display time and writes them into a looping GIF, so the animation plays the same way — just in a format that works everywhere.
Animated and still WebP files both work. The file is processed on your device.
Keep the original size, or shrink to 800 or 480 px wide — GIF files grow quickly, and smaller ones load faster in chats.
Keep it for stickers and cut-out animations; choose a white background if the GIF will sit on a white page.
The frame count is shown under the preview so you can confirm the animation came through.
Expect the GIF to be several times the size of the WebP. GIF compresses every frame without loss but can only store 256 colors per frame, while WebP uses modern compression with full color. The converter picks the best 256 colors for each frame separately, which keeps gradients and skin tones far smoother than a single shared palette — but smooth photographic animations still produce large files.
If the result is too big for where you want to post it, choose a smaller width: halving the width cuts the file to roughly a quarter.
WebP supports soft, partially transparent edges; GIF only knows fully transparent or fully solid pixels. When you keep transparency, semi-transparent edges are rounded to one or the other, which can leave a slightly jagged outline on dark backgrounds. If you know the background the GIF will sit on, choosing a solid background gives cleaner edges.
Reading the individual frames uses the browser’s ImageDecoder interface, available in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Safari can display animated WebP but does not let pages read the frames one by one yet, so there the converter makes a GIF from the first frame and tells you so. For the full animation, use one of the other browsers.
Imagelier’s main tool
Working with a still banner or poster rather than an animation? Imagelier can change the words in it — click the text, type, done. Imagelier erases the old words, rebuilds the background and sets the new text at the original size, weight and color — no Photoshop needed.

Yes, it is written to loop forever, which is what chat apps and forums expect.
No. Decoding and GIF encoding both happen in your browser. Long animations can take a few seconds on a phone — the frame counter shows the progress.
Not with this tool yet. It only goes from WebP to GIF.
